The Coppermine Photo Gallery includes a tool to tie the database tables of user accounts to those of several other pieces of software. Ideally, one could add a Coppermine gallery to almost any existing web site running Invision Power Board, Mambo, phpBB, punBB, et-cetera but share user accounts. Each person would have just one user name and password. The Coppermine developers call it bridging. It is hardly a new concept but one that the folks behind Coppermine obviously support.
Unfortunately, the push-button bridging scripts included with Coppermine don't always work work custom installations. I had to tweak the tables quite a bit to have things working smoothly for a recent project.
The forum is a customized phpBB2 installation.
The photo gallery contains all the same features with the addition of sharing user accounts with the phpBB2 installation.
